The Craigie Inn offers delectable dishes at a reasonable price – which isn’t the only reason to visit this restaurant in the quaint village of Craigie. Not only does the food taste fresh and flavoursome, but it is immaculately presented. Staff are friendly and approachable, the house wine is excellent and many of the ingredients are locally-sourced to make for an authentic culinary experience. Head chef Craig Hogarth has really worked wonders with this place, as evinced by the scramble for tables that heralds the weekend. The decor is simple and rustic – stone walls and framed photographs, low beamed ceilings – but it is certainly cosy, especially on those dark winter’s evenings. The inn has recently refurbished its function room, making it an ideal venue for parties of up to 65, be it for a birthday celebration or small wedding reception, when a set menu can be provided. For regular occasions however, book in advance to avoid disappointment. A gluten-free menu is available, with staff going out of their way to accommodate special dietary requirements. The Craigie Inn is proof that often the simplest concepts are the most effective: fresh food, cooked to perfection using quality ingredients.
